1794 BRAINTREE AND BOCKING HALFPENNY TOKEN

A rare 18th-century halfpenny token issued jointly by the towns of Braintree and Bocking in Essex. This locally-minted piece reflects the commercial enterprise of the period, when private merchants and businesses issued their own tokens to supplement the shortage of official coinage.
